The Visionary Behind Northeast Environmental Engineering
A maritime foundation and decades of hands‑on practice define Brian Farmer’s approach to water system challenges. He earned a B.S. in Marine Engineering from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in 1984 and completed 32 chemistry credits at various universities. Brian holds full, highest‑grade certifications in water and wastewater treatment operations in both Massachusetts and California.
Over a more than 40‑year career, Brian has specialized in food‑based wastewater (including grease tank waste) and in septage sludge hauling, treatment, and land application, with nationwide applicability. He has worked for major engineering firms such as Weston & Sampson and Veolia (both headquartered in the Boston area) and has supported other firms as a third‑party vendor, including Woodard & Curran, in addition to engagements with numerous smaller engineering companies.
Rooted in maritime hands‑on training and seamanship, Brian applies operations‑focused applied physics (knowledge-based science) and applied solid (engineering) principles combined with a strong water‑chemistry acumen. This practical, science‑based foundation enables him to solve complex water and system operations problems and to manage location and permitting for these facilities across many zoning jurisdictions.
